About

The Gloucester High School Band Programs consist of the award-winning Marching Band and multiple highly rated ensembles. They concluded last school year as a Ten-time Virginia Honors Band, receiving all Superior ratings at the VBODA State Marching Assessments in the fall, and the Wind Ensemble and Symphonic bands earned Superior ratings at District VIII Concert Band Assessments in the Spring. Their success led to Gloucester High School being named a VMEA Blue Ribbon School, the highest award given to music programs in the Commonwealth of Virginia, recognizing excellence in Band, Orchestra, and Choral Performance.

Gloucester High Schoolโ€™s Marching Dukes are known for their record of accomplishments over the decades, including recent awards for Best Visual, Best Colorguard, and Best Percussion. They participate in community events like the Guinea Jubilee, the Homecoming parade, and the Christmas Parade. These students also participate in the school ensembles, including Woodwind, Symphonic, and Jazz ensembles, where they are consistently recognized for their high achievement.

Participating in the Gloucester Band Programs allows students wider opportunities, such as nominations for Honors Bands at nearby Universities, selection for district, and even State Honors bands, Governor School, and Tri-M honors society. Students are provided extracurricular opportunities at the high school and in the community, including participation in the pit orchestra for school musicals, Band Day at local universities, university-sponsored honors bands, and pep rally activities.

Being a member of the Gloucester High School Band program is being a part of a history of excellence and high achievement.
